Yesterday we had a very busy day. Evie and I headed to Davenport all by ourselves (I don't think I've driven a car over 30 miles an hour since we drove from Kansas to Iowa at Christmas...) I also had to fill up with gas before I left :P bad Matt... (I don't normally do that either, it took awhile to figure out how to get the stupid gas cap off...). Evie was all excited to go, she talked in her car seat at first and then slowly drifted off to sleep. We arrived about half an hour early (We were meeting Carrie, an old college friend), so we decided to go shopping! Evie wasn't quite sure how she felt about this, but as long as the stroller kept moving she was fine (this makes it relatively hard to browse...) We of course started in Barnes and Noble, where I bought the book Twilight, it's a book about vampires that had been recommended to me as the "next harry potter" (I must say, I just finished the book and I wasn't all that impressed with it, the writing was okay, but the story line was slightly boring). Then we just kind of wandered. Evie liked it when we strolled over the bumpy stones in the mall. We ended our wanderings in Gymbore (or however you spell it...) and I bought Evie the very first outfit I have ever bought her. It's a shirt and pants outfit that ended up being pink... The shirt says "Daddy's little monkey" and the pants have little monkeys all over them. Very cute and probably over priced :)
After our shopping trip we headed to Olive Garden and had lunch with Carrie. I ate one handed and fed Evie a bottle with the other hand, you discover all kinds of new skills when you have a baby :) We had a scary waiter who kept on trying to get Evie to smile at him... Evie then took a nap while Carrie and I chatted. We headed back to Barnes and Noble for Chai and more chatting next. Evie woke up and decided to talk to the entire store... She has started to be very good at making high pitched shrieking noises, that sound very cheerful. When she got fussy it was time to head home (it was great to see you Carrie!)
When we got home Matt told me that a friend of a friend who was doing an internship here in muscatine wanted to go to dinner with us that night... Since he and his wife were going to stop by our house first a quick house cleaning was in order... :P We went for Mexican food and Evie slept for the first part of dinner and then it was no more good baby. She explained quite loudly that she wanted to be back at her nice quite home... Ah well, she did a great job for most of the day. :) Hopefully we didn't scare the couple too much, they are expecting a baby boy in November. Maybe Evie will have a little boy friend if he gets a job in muscatine :) Off to find lunch. Tata for now :)
