Toes are Yummy

Evie has recently discoverd that she can suck on her toes. They seem to taste good. Also hair, fingers, various toys, etc. All seem to taste yummy. We seem to be at a "everything must go in mouth" Stage. Orange construction paper was fun until mommy took it away from her... (she had an orange face...) We've rolled occasionally from our front to our back, back to front is harder I suppose. Tummy time is also more fun, she can push up and watch things going on. But she hates not being able to crawl. Aside from discovering Evie has quite a temper at times that's about how she's doing developmentally.

Mommy starts work again Monday morning so that will be quite an interesting fiasco. Evie is coming with me, I think she'll enjoy being around the preschooler, but it could be a terrible disaster... We shall see.

Today is her 4 month birthday. We went up a weight class this week :) We switched into size 2 diapers :) and we put away all the 0-3 month clothes and unpacked all the 3-6 month clothes. It was sad to say goodbye to so many fun clothes, but at the same time she got a whole new wardrobe!!! (not completely new, most of it is handmedowns). But yes, new clothes! lots of fun. Well, she is being rather grumpy at the moment, must be going :)

Busy Yesterday

Yesterday we had a very busy day. Evie and I headed to Davenport all by ourselves (I don't think I've driven a car over 30 miles an hour since we drove from Kansas to Iowa at Christmas...) I also had to fill up with gas before I left :P bad Matt... (I don't normally do that either, it took awhile to figure out how to get the stupid gas cap off...). Evie was all excited to go, she talked in her car seat at first and then slowly drifted off to sleep. We arrived about half an hour early (We were meeting Carrie, an old college friend), so we decided to go shopping! Evie wasn't quite sure how she felt about this, but as long as the stroller kept moving she was fine (this makes it relatively hard to browse...) We of course started in Barnes and Noble, where I bought the book Twilight, it's a book about vampires that had been recommended to me as the "next harry potter" (I must say, I just finished the book and I wasn't all that impressed with it, the writing was okay, but the story line was slightly boring). Then we just kind of wandered. Evie liked it when we strolled over the bumpy stones in the mall. We ended our wanderings in Gymbore (or however you spell it...) and I bought Evie the very first outfit I have ever bought her. It's a shirt and pants outfit that ended up being pink... The shirt says "Daddy's little monkey" and the pants have little monkeys all over them. Very cute and probably over priced :)

After our shopping trip we headed to Olive Garden and had lunch with Carrie. I ate one handed and fed Evie a bottle with the other hand, you discover all kinds of new skills when you have a baby :) We had a scary waiter who kept on trying to get Evie to smile at him... Evie then took a nap while Carrie and I chatted. We headed back to Barnes and Noble for Chai and more chatting next. Evie woke up and decided to talk to the entire store... She has started to be very good at making high pitched shrieking noises, that sound very cheerful. When she got fussy it was time to head home (it was great to see you Carrie!)

When we got home Matt told me that a friend of a friend who was doing an internship here in muscatine wanted to go to dinner with us that night... Since he and his wife were going to stop by our house first a quick house cleaning was in order... :P We went for Mexican food and Evie slept for the first part of dinner and then it was no more good baby. She explained quite loudly that she wanted to be back at her nice quite home... Ah well, she did a great job for most of the day. :) Hopefully we didn't scare the couple too much, they are expecting a baby boy in November. Maybe Evie will have a little boy friend if he gets a job in muscatine :) Off to find lunch. Tata for now :)

Grabby Baby!

Evie has discovered the fun of grabbing things. She grabbed my hair in both hands yesterday and wouldn't let go for about 5 minutes. She also got a hold of my nose and thought that was pretty funny, she giggled at me! Not really a full throated laugh but a giggle. I suppose now that she laughed at me I can stop sing "I love to laugh" (from Mary Poppins) to her every day (I only know a few lines of it...). She also managed to grab the cats tail, the dogs tail, and a stuffed horsey's tail yesterday. The cat and dog are both a few hairs balder I think :)

Evie has been sleeping pretty well the last week. She still does a feeding around 3 A.M. But that is certainly better than needing to eat every two hours during the night. She usually goes to bed between 8 and 9, sleeps till 3, eats, then sleeps until 7. I'm so glad we didn't get a baby that had its days and nights mixed up :) I suppose Matt and I are just good parents... :)

Currently Evie is talking to the dishwasher. She likes to talk to inanimate objects... The motor on her baby swing seems to be a very good conversationalist. :) Well, I'm going to finish my tea, give the baby a bath, and then we're off to sewing circle. Hopefully this week I can actually sew and not walk Evie the entire time...

Wow... blogging :) I figured it might be a fun way to keep people up to date with the doings of Evie (and perhaps occasionally the doings of her parents). Currently Evie and her daddy are watching the Cardinals game. They just finished what I thought was a farting contest, though I guess Matt was just blowing rasberries on Evie's tummy. She also officially laughed for the third time. She has now laughed at Matt twice and at Ingrid (the dog) once. I think I'm slightly jelous.

Today we said goodbye to Evie's aunt Erin and uncle Devon as they headed back to Kansas. Then she talked, ate, fussed, pooped (my it was a big one!!!), and slept. And then did it all again a few more times :) So not an incredibly exciting day, though I do belive today is her 3 month birthday. Wow! how time flys. I will have to measure her tomorrow to see how tall she is now. Well, hope all your summers are fun, leave me lots of comments :)
